The UBC Physics Society holds a number of social events throughout the year so that you can enjoy some time off with your fellow students and professors! Throughout the year, we host barbecues, holiday parties, and wine and cheese events. With recent events in mind, we plan to try our best to offer events to help everyone relax safely. We have a Discord server for anybody who is in physics, taking physics classes, enjoys physics, or just wants a place to hang out with their physics friends! Wine and Cheese April 7th 2022
The event you have all been waiting for is finally here: Wine & Cheese is BACK. It’s been over two full years since Physsoc has been able to run our famous annual event, so we really wanted to revitalize our tradition with a bang! To make this year extra special, we’ve teamed up with the Gallery atop the AMS Nest and booked the entire restaurant for the event!
Physsoc x Math Club – Welcome Back Event Jan 14th
We’re happy to announce that we will be hosting a welcome back event with the Math Club this Friday (January 14th, 2022)! The event will consist of a trivia section where the top contenders will win some epic prizes. The main trivia will be followed by a chance to socialize with some of your Physics and Math peers. We hope to see you all there. Please let me know if you have any questions. Prizes will periodically revealed, so keep your eyes peeled!

Midterm Care Packages and Candy in the Lounge Friday October 29th 2022

I hope everyone is doing well and are enjoying this spooky season. In honour of Halloween being just around the corner, Physsoc is going to be giving out candy to costume-wearing lounge-goers this Friday!
Unfortunately Halloween isn’t the only thing that makes this mid to late October time spooky. We have all been fighting (and hopefully conquering?) midterm season recently, so we want to reward all of you for your hard work. As such, on Friday we will also be giving out midterm care packages (to both costume and non-costume wearers alike) in the lounge.
There will be a station set up on Friday to administer the candy and care packages. We can’t guarantee we will have enough for everyone, so we’ll have to operate on a first-come first-served basis.
We look forward to seeing all of your awesome costumes, and we wish you all a safe and happy Halloween!
First Social Event this Friday September 24th 2022
To celebrate the beginning of the year Physsoc has teamed up with the Astronomy Club to host an online Welcome Back Social this Friday from 5 to 7 PM PDT. We’ll host some online games and provide information about our clubs and memberships. If you’re itching to meet new friends in PHAS, learn more about Physsoc or the Astro club, or just have a good time, this event is for you! We hope to (virtually) see many of you soon!
