Subjects:

  • Physics: Most physics courses, especially core physics courses such as PHYS 101, 102, 106, 108, 117, 118, 119, 129, and lab courses (ex: 159)
  • Astronomy: All Astronomy courses. I am particularly comfortable with galaxies, stars, computational astronomy, and data analysis/astronomic observations (designing observations for a science goal, reduction of data, data exploration, telescope operation, etc..).
  • Coding: I am advanced in Python and proficient in Bash/Linux, some UBC courses that require these skills are PHYS 210, CPSC 103/110, ASTR 404/5
  • I can also offer some tutoring for co-op projects such as choosing a project, research techniques, keeping a lab notebook, and best research
practices. I believe through strong peer-to-peer mentorship, we can all grow our research skills!
  • This is not an exhaustive list. Feel free to reach out to me with your course syllabus or list of skills you’d like to strengthen and we can decide if we can accomplish them together!

Qualifications:

  • I have a double bachelor’s of science in Physics and Astronomy from the
    University of Washington.
  • I graduated from UBC with an MSc. in Astronomy in 2023 and am currently
in my 2nd year of a PhD in Astronomy.
  • I have TA-ed multiple courses at UBC including PHYS 210, 159 and ASTR
    200, 101, 333 (4+ years of TA experience).
  • I have done research in a variety of topics including environmental
science (carbon leeching in estuaries), time series analysis (Fourier
transforms) of Jovian trojans, spectroscopy of variable stars and
galaxies, and currently, I work with radio observations of pulsars. I
have also been an observationalist, where I operated telescopes, created
observation plans, and was in charge of data reduction.

Notes:

  • Free 15-minute consultation if it is on the UBC campus. We can discuss
what you hope to get out of tutoring and what topics you want to focus
    on.
